Sha'Terrica Highsmith Clinical Intern

Sha’Terrica Highsmith is a graduate student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, currently serving as an intern. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Florida A&M University and brings over six years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families across educational, clinical, and community-based settings.

 

Throughout her career, Sha’Terrica has supported individuals navigating a range of mental health concerns, including Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety, and ADHD. She has experience as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), where she provided direct services to children with autism and developed strong skills in behavioral therapy and intervention strategies. Additionally, she has worked as a psychometrist administering neuropsychological battery testing for high-profile clients, contributing to screenings for Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).

 

Sha’Terrica has extensive experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, medical providers, paraprofessionals, recreational therapists, and family-based service providers. Her work spans various levels of care, including wraparound services, Community Living Supports, and nurturing parenting programs. She is also experienced in delivering telehealth services.

 

Sha’Terrica is interested in working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. She is passionate about helping clients build emotional awareness, strengthen coping skills, and improve overall functioning. She is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive environment where individuals and families feel empowered to grow and heal.
