Joanna Robertson, M.MFT, LPC, LMFT
Joanna graduated from Abilene Christian University with a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Prior to joining Houston Professional Counseling, Joanna has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families in settings ranging from shelters to schools. She has extensive teaching experience having been an adjunct professor and teaching mindfulness classes to adolescents and adults. Joanna is a certified facilitator and supervisor through The Center for Mind Body Medicine. She also completed mindfulness training through A Still Quiet Place, which focuses on teaching mindfulness practices to children and adolescents.
Joanna takes a collaborative and solution-focused approach, integrating mindfulness practices and creativity. While working with Joanna you can expect to be heard, supported, and valued. She will work with you to set achievable goals, identify roadblocks, learn new skills, and heal from past hurts. You will be treated with compassion as you learn to treat yourself with greater compassion. You can expect to leave therapy with greater confidence not only in your current self, but also in your ability to navigate life’s future challenges.
Joanna specializes in supporting clients struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use, relationships, perfectionism, school trouble, body image and more. Upon request, she is available to provide psychoeducation presentations at your organization.
